I’m a fourth-generation Floridian who grew up right here on the Treasure Coast. I got my start in the pest control industry in 2013, and somewhere along the way I realized I genuinely enjoyed the challenge of solving rat problems. Every home is different, every infestation has its own story, and I became fascinated with finding permanent solutions instead of temporary fixes.

Over the years I built a reputation for being “the rat guy.” I was always happy to help other pest management professionals when they ran into difficult rodent jobs, and before long people in the local industry started calling me The Ratman. The name stuck.

In 2019, life took an unexpected turn. My wife and I both lost our jobs and found ourselves on the brink of homelessness. We knew we had to take a chance. I bought two large magnetic signs that simply said Ratman with my phone number, slapped them on my wife’s car, and spent countless hours driving all over the Treasure Coast hoping the phone would ring.

Eventually, it did.

I’ll be the first to admit that I knew absolutely nothing about running a business. But I knew rats, and I knew one thing for certain: if I treated every customer honestly, did exceptional work, and solved their problem the right way, they’d tell their friends and family.

That’s exactly what happened.

Today, years later, Ratman has grown almost entirely through word of mouth and customer referrals. While I’ve always tried to keep the company small, our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction has continued to fuel our growth.

As the business expanded, I knew I needed someone who would care about our customers the same way I do. So I convinced my high school best friend to move back home from Indiana to help run the company. After my dad retired as a department director for Florida East Coast Railway, he joined us to handle the books. My wife, when she’s not thriving as a custom closet designer, helps with our marketing and jumps in wherever she’s needed.

Ratman has always been a family business built on trust, hard work, and treating people the way we’d want our own family to be treated. We know that when you call us, you’re trusting us with your home. That’s something we’ll never take for granted.
